The Coastal Classic leaves Seward at 6:00 pm and reaches Anchorage late evening. As transport for a flight day it is a trap; as the last four hours of an Alaskan holiday it is the best seat in the state.

Picking a car up in Seward and dropping it at Anchorage airport usually carries a one-way charge that is not in the headline rate. Ask before you book — it can wipe out the saving against two coach seats.
⚠ JULY AND AUGUST SELL OUT
On ship days the coach fills with an entire vessel’s worth of passengers doing exactly what you are doing. Book the seat before the trip, not on the morning.

The next scheduled run is the following day, so the practical fallbacks are a taxi, a rental car if one is available, or the 6:00 pm train and a night in Anchorage. This is the reason we push the earlier coach.
